Join us at The Shala for this informative workshop series on Ashtanga Yoga and the traditional Mysore method of teaching. Ashtanga Yoga is a complex, challenging, energizing yet meditating form of vinyasa yoga taught by the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Pattabhi Jois taught his students individually, providing hands on instruction and assistance as needed, but in a group setting.
This workshop series, which will span a 4 week period, is designed for the beginner and the seasoned yogi alike. If you are new to Ashtanga Yoga, this workshop will help you gain a deeper understanding of the Ashtanga practice and will most certainly prepare you to practice the way Ashtanga Yoga was meant to be taught and learned: Mysore Style!
Workshop education will include:
-A comfortable, accepting class environment in which to learn about a method of yoga that may not be so familiar to you!
-One dedicated night a week with 1 hour 15 minutes of workshop instruction, across the span of 4 weeks
-A 5 class pass to use during the 4 week period to take classes and enhance the knowledge that you are gaining in the workshop setting
-A review of the history and practice of Ashtanga Yoga
-A discussion on the eight limbs of yoga
-An introduction to the yoga sutras
-A review, break down, and practice (both led and Mysore style!) of the standing sequence and the last few closing sequence postures of the Ashtanga Yoga method
-Hands on assistance with and modifications of the postures of the standing sequence as needed
Investment: $90 (Includes the 4 workshop series classes and 5 regular classes at The Shala)
Class will be limited to 10 students only!
This workshop is already in session. Stay tuned for the next Intro to Ashtanga Yoga/Mysore Workshop Series in January, 2016!
