Join expert teacher and long-time Ashtanga practitioner, Lori Brandt for a four-part series that helps the beginning student slowly build a personal yoga practice by introducing the Ashtanga Primary Series.  Ashtanga Yoga is energizing, challenging, yet calming and meditative form of vinyasa yoga.  Students start by concentrating on how to link the smooth long breathing pattern (ujjayi) with the physical movement of the sequence (asana). Ashtanga is a personal practice that is guided by the insight and direction of experienced teachers.  As the student practices and acquires more facility, the teacher adds more and more asana postures and the focus of the practice turns to all aspects of the Ashtanga tristana: breath, bandhas and dristis. 

Four Week Live Online Series starts Thursday evenings from 6pm-8pm

A recorded version of the teaching will be available for unlimited viewing, as part of the series, until March 30, 2021.

  • February 4 - Sun Salutations + theory

  • February 11 -  Standing Sequence + theory

  • February 18 – Seated Sequence + theory

  • February 25 - Closing Sequence + theory

  • PLUS Bonus Class -March 4 - Putting it All Together - Led Half Primary

Each class will include an asana practice and theory. 

Getting to Know Ashtanga Series – all four classes - is $100 and includes bonus class, Putting it All Together, and unlimited classes for one month.   Upon completion of all four classes, the student is eligible for a 2nd  month Unlimited Yoga pass at a special rate. A recorded version of the teaching will be available for unlimited viewing, as part of the series, until March 30, 2021. Registered students will receive a Zoom link to the live online instruction. 

Classes can be taken individually for $35. All classes are included with the Shala Unlimited Membership. 

This introduction series is designed for all levels of students – from beginners to seasoned practitioners. At the end of this series, you will be confident in the foundation of a personal practice. You will be well prepared to attend online Mysore classes and many of the other yoga classes offered by The Shala.  Seasoned practitioners will appreciate Lori’s knowledge of the current traditional teaching methods that will both invigorate and refine their practice.  Jump-start your practice today!

Cancellation Policy: We must receive cancellation notice in writing to info@theshalapittsburgh.com at least 72 hours prior to the workshop start date in order to issue you a refund. Otherwise, workshop is non-refundable. Workshop fee is non-transferable.
