Transitioning from spring to summer reminds us that each season, each experience, each relationship, each creative effort, each chapter in our lives and each moment offers the possibility to see anew and live with fresh insight –- about ourselves and about who and what is around us.

The first sutra (or yogic teaching), Sutra 1.1, Atha yogānuśāsanam (Now the practice of yoga begins), reminds us that the entirety of this practice is based on the here and now, paying attention and ultimately starting anew in the present moment. We commit to self-study and enhanced self-awareness. Not so we can live more perfectly or be more righteous, but so we can connect more honestly with ourselves and our truth and live unapologetically with a big heart.

In this Summer Solstice Practice, we integrate movement, creative sequencing, breath, reflection, poetry and imagery to enliven and inspire our imaginations to flow more fluidly and rest in the here and now. Variations of Sun Salutes, stabilizing postures and balance provide a strong framework for our practice. There is also slow, fluid movement and time to rest, listen and contemplate a new beginning that is inherent in these teachings and in the present moment.

Join me for this celebration of welcoming summertime! This experience is for EveryBody! Accessibility is important and options are always offered.
