Beginner Ashtanga Yoga – 4 Week Series (Vaccine Rq'd)

Curious about Mysore class?  Want to try it but feeling a bit nervous about it?  Don't' know the series?

 

Join us at The Shala for this four-week series on Ashtanga Yoga.  Whether you are completely new to Ashtanga Yoga, or are familiar with the method through led classes, this Beginner Ashtanga Yoga Series will be a great fit for you! Each week we will focus on one piece of the practice from breathing and sun salutations, to standing postures, to the closing sequencing and, finally, putting it all together, Mysore style!

 

Mysore is the traditional style in which Ashtanga Yoga is taught.  Students practice at their own pace in a group setting and the teacher walks around and provides verbal instruction and physical assists where needed.  Mysore teaches you how to develop a personal practice and go deeper than you ever would in a led class.  This workshop series is designed to introduce you to this method of practice.   You do NOT need to know ANY of the sequencing to take this workshop, or to start practicing Mysore style.  That is where we come in to teach you!

 

The first session, we will discuss the Mysore method history, origins, practice, and answer any questions you may have.  We will then delve into the Sun Salutations of Ashtanga Yoga.  The second session, we will break down the standing sequence posture by posture and review the flow of the standing sequence in Ashtanga Yoga.  The third session, we will review the closing postures of Ashtanga Yoga.  The fourth session, we will put it all together Mysore style.   

Workshop education will include:

-A comfortable, accepting class environment in which to learn about a method of yoga that may not be so familiar to you!

-1 month of unlimited classes at The Shala 

Upon completion of this series, you will have a strong understanding of the Mysore method, a foundation to build upon, and will be comfortable joining Mysore or Beginner's Mysore.  Most students will feel comfortable joining the Led Half Primary Ashtanga class.

$100 Fee includes unlimited yoga for a month which is activated upon first day of use, you may decide to try other classes during the series or wait until you have completed the full series. Unlimited month is valid for 6 months after purchase.
