Description:
The hips are an area where we hold a lot of unconscious tension. Just as we clench our jaws when we are stressed, this same action of clenching happens in our hips when we feel threatened (fight or flight) or hear bad news. The tissues in our hips hold on to those patterns. Layer that on top of our sedentary lifestyle, and it's no wonder they become tight over time.
Whether we're working towards padmasana, front or middle splits, or just looking for more comfort in our practice, each week we will explore hip flexibility and active mobility in a different direction. We will learn how to mindfully relax while maintaining muscle engagement.
All levels of students are welcome. Modifications and variations are always given.
