Yoga Sutra Discussion

This two-hour workshop is designed to explore the fundamentals of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. We will take an in-depth look at the first two books and how they relate to our daily lives. The Sutras provide a framework for better living when practiced in conjunction with our asana practice. Join Taylor as he shares this ancient knowledge that he has learned from many years of studying with his Vedic philosophy teacher, Shree Ashwath.

Mysore

Join Authorized Level 2 teacher, Taylor Hunt, for a unique opportunity to receive individual attention and deepen your practice in a Mysore-style setting.

"Mysore style" is traditionally practiced silently, with individual instruction, and is named after Mysore, India, where Ashtanga Yoga originated and was taught by Sri k Pattabhi Jois for many years.  Anyone is welcome to come to this class, but it is recommended you have attended Mysore class at minimum once prior at The Shala.  Students will work at their own pace, according to his or her individual needs, while Taylor walks around the room providing hands on adjustments and verbal instruction as needed.  Mysore style is the absolute best way to learn and practice yoga.  It enables you to create a dedicated, daily practice that will take you infinitely deeper into the peace and calm a quiet mind and strong body can provide.

Foundations

In this workshop, we will take an in-depth look at the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method while exploring the foundational poses of the Primary Series. The standing and seated poses lay the groundwork for the Ashtanga Yoga method and are designed to strengthen the legs while opening the hips and hamstrings. They create a grounded and stable base to further progress in the practice. We will spend ample time exploring proper alignment and techniques to work through restricted movements. This workshop is appropriate for all levels of practitioners.
